Direct Drive swivel shown in conjunction with a hanging leader suspended on a Consallen Forager tripod rig. It allows the combination of drilling by rotary and cable percussion. It combines the ability to handle and place temporary casing, while drilling by either method. Can be used for rotary percussion drilling by air flush to drill hard rock, and for simultaneous drilling and casing.
Features:
Simple direct drive powered swivel; hydraulic rotation; easy field maintenance; all bolted, no welding, massive construction; all ball bearings; double lip seals to protect bearings, retain grease and exclude dust & dirt. Designed for air, foam or mud flush working.
The quill is bored 32mm diameter giving good flow of drilling fluids for flushing efficiency.
Alternative torque resisting arrangements are possible including slide wires.
Torque/speed: 1400 Newton-metres (12,000 lbs-in) of torque supplied by rugged hydraulic motor illustrated, which operates at 210 bar (3000 psi) and at 88 rpm with a flow of 40 l/min.
Load capacity: Thrust and hold-back (pull-up) capacity of bearing sets exceeds 2000 Kg. and a capacity of 150 metres drilling depth is suggested.
Weight: The unit illustrated weighs 50 Kg without the drill bit.
